A driver for a specific printer is not always necessary.
I tried I don't know how many different printers, and all kinds of combinations of drivers and ports, etc...but wasn't successful. lmao. I tried to create a port directed to the printers IP Address but Windows refuses to accept it saying it isn't valid. ip4200 - if drivers are available for 98SE / ME, then search the web for that model - one that is old stock, never used. Generic print drivers are available from manufacturers and your OS disk will have a shitload of prnter drivers available one of which should work as a generic.Click to expand... Keep in mind, buying some oddball old printer is going to cause a support nightmare (not that this thing isn't already), $20K sounds like a lot, but eventually that PC is AS far as networking, if you can find a 3com 3905 PCI card, WIn98 will have built-in driver support that should get you on the LAN to print through generic drivers.
